Better Sleep with Essential Oils
Taking myself as an example, I sometimes had trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Getting a better night’s sleep means waking up refreshed and energetic.
When we don’t have enough sleep, it affects everything in our life. We aren’t as productive as we could be, we aren’t as energetic as we could be, we aren’t as happy as we could be, and our body doesn’t feel as healthy as it could be.
There are several essential oils that have calming and relaxing properties. My personal favorites are Lavender, Vetiver, Cypress, and Soothing Blend. As a website developer, I know my problems with falling asleep sometimes are caused by working on the computer until late at night as well as stress and personal worries. Since I’ve developed a routine using Lavender or Calming blend, Vetiver and Cypress, I’ve been able to fall asleep much faster, stay asleep, and wake up feeling much more rested. I rub a drop of Lavender on the back of my neck and down my traps, apply one drop on my wrists (so I can smell the oil while falling asleep), and one drop of Vetiver or Cypress under the soles of my feet. Other simple solutions are putting 2-3 drops across the pillow or in the palms of your hands and/ or using 1-3 drops of Clary Sage under the tongue. Taking a soaking bath or foot massage with some of the essential oils mentioned is also very relaxing and promotes better sleep. Another great solution is using a diffuser in the bedroom with a couple of the drops of the essential oil that works best for you.
I’m more productive, I feel better, and I’m a happier person after a good night’s rest and I thank these essential oils for it!
