I want to feel heard and understood

There are times when what we long for most is simply to feel heard. To feel that our words matter, that our voice carries weight, and that others truly understand what we are trying to express. For me, this is deeply connected to my sense of balance and emotional well-being—and one of the most beautiful ways I’ve found support is through essential oils.

When I want to feel heard and understood, I often reach for Bergamot, Clary Sage, Lavender, Spearmint, and Rosemary. Each one holds a special place in my practice:

  • Bergamot uplifts and softens self-doubt, helping me feel more confident in sharing my truth.
  • Clary Sage opens creativity and self-expression, grounding me in my authentic voice.
  • Lavender soothes tension, allowing me to communicate with calm and clarity rather than stress or frustration.
  • Spearmint refreshes my thoughts, helping me speak in a clear, concise way that’s easy for others to understand.
  • Rosemary sharpens memory and focus, so I feel steady and articulate when I need to share something meaningful.

My Throat Chakra Blend
Alongside these oils, I also use a special Throat Chakra blend with Frankincense, Cypress, Geranium, and Eucalyptus. This blend feels especially supportive when I want to align my inner truth with the words I speak.

  • Frankincense connects me with my intuition, so I know I’m speaking from a place of wisdom.
  • Cypress encourages flow and release, helping words come more easily.
  • Geranium supports the heart connection, so my words are filled with kindness and compassion.
  • Eucalyptus opens the airways and invites clarity, helping me breathe deeply and express myself with confidence.

When I use this blend, I feel it helps me speak truth with kindness and compassion, verbalize what is important to me, and connect with my intuitive abilities. It’s like an anchor that helps me remember that my words matter—and that it’s safe to share them.

Beyond Essential Oils

While oils are my foundation, I love to add other practices that strengthen my ability to feel heard and understood.

Sound Healing: Our voices carry energy, and sometimes the act of using them—even when no one else is listening—can unlock what feels stuck inside. Chanting or humming is a gentle way to stimulate the throat chakra and release blocked energy. I’ve found that humming along to music or simply letting my voice vibrate through my chest and throat helps open the pathway for me to say what I need to say. Even just a few minutes of humming can shift how I feel before having an important conversation.

Crystals: I often turn to blue lace agate or aquamarine when I want to communicate with more ease. Blue lace agate has a soft, calming energy that soothes anxious thoughts and supports compassionate communication, while aquamarine encourages courage and clarity—helping me speak honestly without fear of judgment. Holding one of these stones in my hand during a conversation, or keeping it in my pocket, feels like having a supportive ally for my voice.

Writing: Journaling before a difficult conversation is one of my favorite practices. Putting thoughts onto paper untangles emotions, clarifies what I really want to say, and helps me feel more confident expressing it. Sometimes I don’t even need to share everything I write—it’s the act of giving myself space to process all my thoughts and feelings that brings clarity, understanding myself better, and with that being able to express myself and communicate better.

Breathwork: Gentle breathing exercises can open the chest and throat, allowing words to flow more naturally. I like to practice a few rounds of deep belly breathing, then focus on lengthening my exhale to release tension. This creates more spaciousness in my body, softens my voice, and helps me feel calmer when it’s time to speak.

A Short Daily “Voice & Clarity” Reset Ritual

When I need to reconnect with my own voice and need some support in expressing myself, I use this 10–15 minute practice:

  1. Essential Oils – I place a drop of Roman Chamomile and Black Spruce on my palms, rub them together, and cup them 6″ from my nose for three deep breaths. Roman Chamomile calms emotional intensity and brings gentle reassurance, while Black Spruce strengthens my inner voice and connection to truth.

  2. Crystal Ally – I hold a piece of Aquamarine close to my throat for a couple of minutes or hold it in my hand, setting the intention to express myself clearly and with courage.

  3. Sound & Breath – I begin by humming softly for 1–2 minutes, feeling the vibration in my throat and chest. Then, I transition into slow, deep breaths—inhale fully, exhale longer than the inhale—until my body feels open and relaxed.

  4. Writing for Clarity – To finish, I take 5 minutes to journal any thoughts, emotions, or words I want to express. Sometimes I write what I wish I could say freely, other times I jot down affirmations like “My voice matters. I am heard.”

This simple ritual helps me release tension, open my throat chakra, and reconnect with my authentic voice. It’s not about forcing others to hear me—it’s about deeply listening to myself first.

Getting Started

Making It a Practice
What matters most is consistency. Whether it’s essential oils, sound, journaling, or another practice, find something that resonates with you. Make it part of your daily rhythm. The more we repeat these supportive rituals, the more they create lasting shifts in how we show up and connect with others.

Remember: The goal isn’t just to be heard by others—it’s to truly hear yourself first.
