I want to feel strong and independent

There have been moments in my life when I had to dig deep—times when challenges felt overwhelming and I wasn’t sure how I’d find my way through. I know what it means to feel tested and to long for strength and independence. That’s why I share so openly, because I’ve been there too. Along the way, essential oils have become beautiful companions, helping me reconnect with my resilience and reminding me that I am capable of standing tall — despite the challenges.

The oils I turn to most to boost inner strength are Vetiver, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Clove, Bergamot, Rosemary, and Lavender.

  • Vetiver and Cedarwood root me deeply, strengthening my sense of stability.
  • Frankincense reminds me to rise above fear and connect with my inner wisdom.
  • Clove is fiery and empowering—it supports courage and self-confidence.
  • Bergamot helps me release doubt and embrace worthiness.
  • Rosemary sharpens focus and clarity, giving me confidence to make decisions.
  • Lavender softens edges, reminding me that strength doesn’t mean hardness—it means resilience balanced with gentleness.
  • Juniper Berry helps me release worries and irrational fears holding me back.

How I use them: Before tackling a task that requires confidence, I like to apply a blend of Vetiver, Clove, and Bergamot to my wrists. The earthy, spicy, citrusy mix helps me stand taller and feel more capable. Diffusing Rosemary and Frankincense in my workspace or at home also keeps me clear-minded and strong in my choices. I like to apply a dab of Frankincense over my heart area, to feel protected and to remind me that I have the wisdom to make the right choices.

Beyond Essential Oils

Sound: There’s something incredibly empowering about rhythm. Drumming or steady, rhythmic beats connect me to the primal strength of the body and remind me of resilience that’s always been within me. Even listening to music with a strong, steady beat can ground me and shift me into a more empowered state of mind.

Crystals: Crystals often serve as touchstones for what I want to embody. Black tourmaline offers protection and stability—it feels like a shield of resilience around me. Tiger’s eye, with its golden-brown shimmer, reminds me of courage, determination, and the ability to move forward with confidence. Carrying them in a pocket or holding them in my hand during meditation helps me anchor into my own inner strength.

Movement: Movement is one of the most tangible ways to connect with strength. Yoga poses like Warrior II or Mountain Pose embody groundedness, focus, and stability. They remind me of the strength that comes from both stillness and action. I also love using the Superman (or Superwoman) pose—standing tall with feet apart, hands on hips, chest lifted, chin slightly up—for just two minutes. Research even shows that this simple posture can boost feelings of confidence and inner power.

Affirmations: Words shape the way we see ourselves. I repeat affirmations such as:

  • “I am stronger than the challenges I face, and each step forward makes me more resilient.”

  • “I trust myself and my inner wisdom to guide me toward balance, strength, and independence.”
    Repeating these daily helps me rewire my inner dialogue and align with the strength I want to embody.

Breathwork: The power breath is a quick way to energize and center myself. I take a deep inhale through my nose, filling my lungs completely, then release with a strong, forceful exhale through my mouth. I repeat this 5–10 times. It awakens energy in my body, sharpens focus, and leaves me feeling more present and capable.

Power Breath (3–Part Breath with an Affirmation)

  1. I sit comfortably with my spine tall and shoulders relaxed.

  2. Inhale slowly through my nose in three parts:

    • First, fill my belly.

    • Next, expand my ribs.

    • Finally, lift my breath into my chest.

  3. Holding gently for a count of 2.

  4. Exhaling slowly through my mouth, releasing fully.

  5. With each inhale, I silently repeat: “I breathe in strength.”

  6. With each exhale, I silently repeat: “I release all doubt.”

Repeating this for 5–7 rounds is a good practice and helps me feel grounded and more centered in my inner power.

A Short Daily “Strength & Independence” Reset Ritual

This 10–15 minute practice helps me step into my own power when I need a reminder of resilience and independence:

  1. Essential Oils – I apply a blend of Bergamot and Juniper Berry on my wrists and over my heart. Bergamot encourages courage and confidence, while Juniper Berry clears fear and strengthens trust in my inner wisdom. I take a few deep breaths with these scents before moving on.

  2. Crystal Support – Holding Tiger’s eye in one hand and Black tourmaline in the other, I stand in Mountain Pose, feeling grounded through my feet and tall through my spine.

  3. Sound & Movement – I put on a track with steady drumming or empowering rhythms and hold Warrior II for a few breaths on each side. Sometimes I finish by standing in the Superwoman pose for 2 minutes, feeling energy rise in my chest and shoulders.

  4. Breath & Words – I practice 5 rounds of power breath, then repeat affirmations out loud:

    • “I am strong. I am resilient. I trust myself.”
      Speaking them while breathing deeply makes the words sink into my body as truth.

This ritual always leaves me standing taller—literally and figuratively. It reminds me that strength isn’t just about pushing through challenges, but about remembering the independence, resilience, and wisdom I already carry inside.
