I want to feel joyful

Joy is a gentle, radiant energy that reminds us life can be light, playful, and full of connection. Yet when our days feel busy, stressful, or overwhelming, it’s easy for that joy to feel just out of reach, buried under responsibilities and worries. Over time, I’ve learned that intentionally creating small moments for myself — with essential oils, mindful practices, or simple rituals — can help me reconnect with that feeling. These little pockets of joy become anchors, helping me notice and appreciate the lighter, brighter moments in everyday life, even when the world feels heavy.

The oils I love most for this are Wild Orange, Lemon, Lime, Tangerine, Red Mandarin or Bergamot.

How I use them: I often diffuse a blend of Wild Orange, Lemon, and Bergamot when I’m working or spending time with family—it can shift the atmosphere in the whole room. For a quick pick-me-up, I’ll rub a drop of Wild Orange between my palms, cup my hands about 6″ from my face and inhale for a minute or two, or I apply a dab of Bergamot over my heart area and to the pulse points on my neck several times throughout the day.

If you are asking me which ones are my absolute favorites, it would be Wild Orange and Bergamot. 

Beyond Essential Oils

  • Sound: Upbeat music that makes you want to dance—sometimes I’ll just put on a song and move around my kitchen!
  • Crystals: Carnelian and citrine are wonderful for sparking creativity and joy.
  • Movement: Gentle, playful movement like free-form dancing and practicing yoga can lighten the heart. Going for a run, brisk walk, bike ride or swim can help lift my spirits and boost physical and mental energy.
  • Social Interaction: Talking with a friend that is cheerful or makes me easily laugh is a great way to bring back joy.

Joy thrives in consistency. When we choose practices that make us smile—even small ones—and repeat them daily, we can cultivate a life where joy becomes the natural rhythm.

Remember: Joy isn’t found, it’s cultivated—let yourself notice the little sparks of happiness every day.
