We all have these moments, and yet I had to learn that courage doesn’t come from never feeling afraid. It comes from supporting myself in those times and gently choosing to move forward anyway. Essential oils, crystals, breathwork, and simple daily practices have helped me cultivate a sense of courage, bravery, and even fearlessness—not by removing challenges, but by reminding me of the strength I already carry inside.
Essential Oils for Courage, Bravery & Fearlessness
Here are some of the oils I turn to when I need that little bit of boost and encouragement:
- Bergamot – Uplifts my spirit and softens self-criticism. It reminds me that I am enough, just as I am. It gives me courage.

- Cypress – Encourages flow, adaptability, and letting go of control, which makes it easier to face challenges with courage.
- Lavender – Eases tension and anxiety so I can approach situations with a calm and clear mind.
- Cassia – Sparks inner fire and confidence. It reminds me of my passion and helps me step into action.
Here’s how I like to use some of these oils:

Diffuser Use: I add 3 drops Bergamot, 2 drops Black Spruce, and 1 drop Cassia to my diffuser. This fills the space with a warm, grounding yet uplifting aroma. It’s my go-to when I have an important call, need to prepare for something new, or just want to shift out of fear and into action. It’s like a trio that balances heart, body, and fire.

Topical Use: I mix 1 drop Cassia, 2 drops Bergamot, and 2 drops Lavender with a teaspoon of carrier oil (like fractionated coconut oil) and apply it over my solar plexus area (just above the stomach). This spot is connected to personal power and confidence, and applying the oils here feels both empowering and soothing.

Inhalation Tip: For a quick courage boost on the go, I put a drop of Juniper Berry or Black Spruce into the palms of my hands, rub them together, cup them 6″ from my face (not touching my face or eyes), and take a few deep breaths. It’s a simple way to release blockages and feel grounded, even in the middle of a busy day.
The beautiful thing is that you don’t have to use all the oils or even a blend—sometimes just one single oil can make a noticeable shift. But when you experiment and find the combinations that resonate most with you, the effects often feel deeper and more lasting.

- Crystals – I often reach for Tiger’s Eye for courage, Black Tourmaline for grounding, or Carnelian for boldness and action. I keep them in my pocket, meditate with them, or place them near my diffuser.
- Sound & Music – Drumming, chanting, or listening to empowering playlists helps shift my energy and remind me of my strength. Even certain frequencies, like 396 Hz, are known for releasing fear.
- Movement & Exercise – Yoga poses like Warrior II or even a brisk walk remind me to inhabit my body fully and stand strong. Sometimes simply standing tall with my shoulders back shifts my entire outlook.
- Breathing Techniques – I often use box breathing: inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. This brings calm clarity and helps me center myself before stepping into something that feels intimidating.
- Affirmations & Mantras – Repeating phrases like “I am strong. I am capable. I am enough.” plants seeds of courage that grow over time.
