Essential Oils for Travel

Since I frequently travel, I have some great tips for you on how to use essential oils for travel to support your overall wellbeing, combat jetlag, and support your digestive system, making your trips more enjoyable.

Here is my personal travel routine…

Start Three Days Before A Trip

  1. Apply a drop of OnGuard essential oil blend under the sole of your foot morning and evening.
  2. Gargle with one drop of OnGuard in a shotglass of warm water every evening before going to bed.
  3. Important: Continue this regimen throughout your trip and for three days after your trip.

At the Airport, On the Plane, Train, Bus OR when gathering with lots of people…

  1. Inhale OnGuard (from an essential oil inhaler) or apply a drop to inside of wrists and smell from your wrists whenever you can. Another option is to pop an OnGuard beadlet into your mouth (bite the beadlet so the essential oil drop disperses into your mouth and throat). If you have a sensitive digestive system or suffer from digestive issues please be cautious with taking OnGuard internally, consult with your physician first.
  2. Gargle with one drop of OnGuard as soon as you get to your hotel or destination. Cleanse your throat and keep it healthy!

Combat Jetlag

  1. Apply a drop of Peppermint Essential Oil to your neck and traps, massage in lightly to increase energy levels.
  2. Apply a drop of Peppermint essential oil to your palms, rub hands together, cup hands 6” from face and inhale for 1-2 minutes to feel more alert and awaken all your senses.

On Long Car Rides

  1. Diffuse a drop of Peppermint & Wild Orange while driving (simply get a car diffuser that plugs into your USB port).
  2. Take regular breaks, stretch your legs, and drink enough fluids!

Boat Trips

  1. Should you easily feel nauseous, apply a drop of Ginger around you belly button every 3-4 hours.
  2. Inhale Ginger & Peppermint from your palms as described above. Diffuser both, 2 drops each in your cabin.
  3. Suck on a Ginger throat drop to easy queasiness.

At the Hotel (or wherever you are staying)

  1. Diffuse 4 drops of OnGuard during the day to cleanse the air and support your immune system.
  2. Diffuse 4 drops of Serenity Blend at night to support restful sleep (for more tips on using essential oils for sleep click here).
  3. Should you feel like you are coming down with something, add 2-3 drops of OnGuard to your nighttime diffuser, and apply one drop OnGuard under the sole of your foot, to the lymph nodes on your neck under the jawline, and to the outside of your throat (if your throat is affected) every 3-4 hours. If you have sensitive skin, make sure to dilute appropriately with fractionated coconut oil before applying to your neck to avoid any unwanted skin reaction.

Support Clear Breathing

  1. Apply a drop of Breathe essential oil blend to your chest every 3-4 hours as needed. It’s easier to spread when diluting it with a bit a fractionated coconut oil.
  2. Add 2 drops of Breathe to your diffuser at night, along with 2 drops of OnGuard.

Support Digestive Health

  1. Travel can affect our digestive wellbeing and bowel movements. Terrazyme digestive enzymes can be extremely helpful when taken with meals to stay regular and feel lighter and not heavy after meals. Overall Terrazyme simply aids with digesting meals easier which can be  especially helpful while traveling (check out my 30-Day Terrazyme Journey).
  2. Digestzen essential oil blend has been a ‘trip saver’ for me many times. Apply 1-2 drops you’re your stomach area/abdomen as needed to alleviate digestive discomfort.  It works amazingly well! Dilute with fractionated coconut oil if needed to spread easier or for sensitive skin.
  3. Digestzen can also be taken internally but should you have a sensitive digestive system or suffer from digestive issues please consult with your physician first before taking it internally. You can also suck on a Ginger throat drop to support your digestive system.

Keep Your Hands Clean!!

I don’t go anywhere without my OnGuard hand sanitizing mist! Apply whenever needed during your travels to keep your hands clean.

Hope these tips will help you on your upcoming travels.
